The text above describes Grok as it looked when that text was written in early 2025. A lot has changed since then, both in the Grok family and on Grok.Online itself, so here is where things stand today.

What Grok.Online is now

Grok.Online is a free website where you can chat with xAI's Grok models in any browser, on a computer or a phone, without creating an account. Around the chat we have added twelve single-task AI tools, sixteen ready-made assistants, a prompt library, practical guides and pages that explain and compare the Grok models. The interface is available in 26 languages, with a dark theme by default and a light one if you prefer.

Models in our chat today

Two Grok models answer in the chat. Grok 4.20 is the default: quick, direct and good for most everyday questions. Grok 4.3 Thinking reasons for a moment before it replies, which helps with logic, math and planning. Grok 4.7, which xAI released in September 2026, is the newest and most capable; it is available in our free app and on ChatPlus. Both chat models can read images you attach. In our chat they have no way to browse the internet or read X, and their knowledge ends at a training cut-off date, so recent events may be missing from their answers.

How it works

Each message you write travels from your browser to our server, which forwards it through our AI gateway to OpenRouter, and from there it goes to xAI, which runs the model. The answer streams back the same way and appears word by word. We do not run or train Grok ourselves. Your conversations are saved only in your own browser; we keep no copy of them on our server. If you share a chat, a read-only copy is stored with us until it is removed. The Privacy Policy explains the details.

Free daily allowance

The chat is free. Each visitor can send 5 messages per day across the chat and the tools, plus 5 more after a short ad. The count resets daily. These limits exist because every answer has a real cost for us, and they keep the service open to everyone instead of a few heavy users or bots.

Who runs the site

Grok.Online is run by a small independent team. We are not part of xAI, which became a subsidiary of SpaceX in February 2026 and now uses the name SpaceXSI, and we have no connection to X Corp. Nobody at those companies runs, reviews or endorses this website. Grok is a trademark of its owner, and we use the name only to describe the models you talk to here. The site is paid for by advertising shown around the content, never inside answers, and by banners for our own other projects. Questions, ideas and bug reports are welcome through the contact form.
